Welcome to the

Chicago Tennis League

How does a ChiTownTennis Local League run?

A Local League is like a Flex League except

The biggest change is the assumption that all matches are played at one specific well used location in the community.
The League will be mixed gendered unless we get 10+ ladies enrolled at kickoff.
There will be level based divisions created at kickoff, but there could be greater range of skill level based upon enrollment.
The league does NOT have special privileges at the location. It's assumed the location is freely available to the public to reserve/use.

Kickoff Day

The start day of the season, players are sent a kickoff email that contains important information about the league, the link where your league standings and players contact information. We guarantee 6 or more playing partners between levels 3.0 to 4.0, but have been averaging closer to 15+ partners in most cities. The number of different levels we run is solely based upon the number of players enrolled for the league kickoff. Typically we are running a Skilled-3.0, Competitive-3.5 and Advanced-4.0 in most cities. We only have a couple of cities with 4.5 level or higher divisions.

Your Task - "Flexible Scheduling"

After this kickoff email is sent, it is the player's task to communicate with other players. Players should work with their partners to find an agreeable time at the league's playing location. While ChiTownTennis doesn't mandate your playing schedule, it is recommended that players schedule at least one match per week. By request of the players, we started to allow players to play 1 rematch per season. The regular season is all about playing as much as you can. As of Feb. 10th, 2022, we've had an amazing 1,203 players play more than 20 matches in a season.

Where to Play?

This is made a lot easier as players now know they will play at the location for this league.

How to Play?

Players can use three mostly standard playing formats: 2 out of 3 sets, 2 sets with 10 point super tie-breaker or the 10-game pro set (First to 10, used when court time is limited). On Feb. 2018, we added Fast Tennis 4 game pro set format as a valid format.

As an adult, it can be difficult to make friends and find tennis partners. ChiTownTennis has enabled me to do both. I've had a great experience and the matches have been exciting and competitive.
